U15 & U18 pathway to Zone Championships
Hockey SA has re-zoned and divided the state into 5 Zones, 3 metro and 2 regional zones. To view changes to the HSA participation and pathways events click HERE
It is envisioned that having the two regionals zones, North West and South East, that this will result in stronger regional teams participating at the higher level. Providing for a greater ability for players to perform at their best at the Zone State Championships, held in Adelaide on the 15th-17th July.
There were many meetings with HSA and our North West Zone Association Representatives after the announcement by HSA of the new Participation and Pathways events last year. Then more after the scheduled dates for these events that came out late last year. Though not ideal in many aspects for our Regions, with regards to the dates of the U13 Championships and the U15 & U18’s Carnival. It has been decided to go ahead with the schedule for this year, with the opportunity for reassessment and change of dates and programming for 2023.

Barossa Valley Association are part of the Regional North West Zone, with CDHA, Pt Lincoln, Pt Pirie, Whyalla & yorke Peninsula
Regional Team Selection - The Regional Carnival and Development weekend, for the North West Zone is being planned for Kadina to host, on the 28th & 29th May. It is planned that it will include Level 1 coaching course, Level 1 Umpiring courses, Technical Officials education and umpiring & coach assessment opportunities.
BVHA are planning to put in an all-Barossa teams of U15 & U18 Boys and Girls, to play in the Carnival in May, against our fellow North West Zone Clubs/Associations. This Carnival has the capacity for the Associations to put in more than one team, if the player numbers are there or for the competition to be 9-a-side to allow more teams to compete. This is all still to be determined.

The Under 15 & 18 Boys and Girls Regional North West Zone Teams will be selected at the Kadina Regional Carnival. So it is important for Players who wish to play in the Zones Competition to play on this weekend.
Player Pick Up Pools will be generated out of this selection process, so that if you do not make your Zone team, you could still have the chance to compete.
Trainings for the North West Zone Team - date and venues are still TBC
Selected players will pay a set fee that covers all your zone training sessions, uniform items and entry into the Zone Championships.
U15 & U18 State Zone Championship 15th - 17th July 2022
Played across 3 venues in Adelaide. U18's at MATE Stadium and U15's Venues to be confirmed.
U13 State Championship 11th - 13th June 2022
All games including Grand Finals to be played at the one venue. Venue to be confirmed. Opportunity for junior regional umpires to be assessed. Hockey SA note, there is no change to the previous format of eligibility for this event.
Barossa will send a U13 Girls and Boys team to this event
